Meeke fastest on final Dakar stage

Delivering on debut
Kris Meeke has survived his first Dakar Rally, finishing in perfect fashion with an impressive fastest lightweight time. He won Friday's Yanbu - Jeddah stage by three minutes over T3 counterpart Cristina Gutierrez Herrero.

Toughest of tests
Meeke arrived at his debut Dakar looking for a new challenge. The Saudi-Arabian event duly delivered with fires, electrical and driveshaft failures hampering the ex-World Rally driver. He kept going though to finish 11th in T3.

Peterhansel delight
Mini's Stephane Peterhansel secured his eighth Dakar win in the car category. The Frenchman perfectly controlled his rally lead throughout Dakar despite several stage-winning threats from Toyota's Nasser Al-Attiyah.
