A lack of entries forces Tipperary Forestry Rally cancellation

Organisers of this month’s Tipperary Forestry Rally have cancelled the event due to insufficient entries being received. The 48-kilometre gravel rally was set to be Motorsport Ireland’s first forest rally since the start of 2020.

A statement released by Tipperary Light Car & Motorcycle Club cited a lack of sufficient entries and paid entries as its reason for the rally’s cancellation.

Details of the Tipperary Forestry Rally (Sean Conlon Memorial Rally) were released two weeks ago. It was just days after the successful return to closed-road rallying in Ireland on the Cork 20 International Rally.

Today’s news is a stark reminder of the challenges that currently surround rallying in Ireland.

“We would like to thank all of the entrants,” read the statement, “for being so supportive of our event and of our club.

“We wish you all the best of luck in upcoming events and we hope to see you back out again for any events we will run in the future.”

The club also thanked its members and surrounding clubs for their support behind the scenes.

Wexford Stages Rally is Motorsport Ireland’s next closed-road rally. It runs a day after Northern Ireland’s Tour of the Sperrins next Saturday.
