McErlean to compete in Midland Moto Rally
Ford M-Sport World Rally Team crew Josh McErlean and Eoin Treacy will take on this year’s National Rally Championship contenders on March’s Midland Moto Stages Rally.
McErlean will drive a Ford Fiesta Rally2 on the National Rally Championship opener which takes place on the second of March.
The Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy duo are set to make their M-Sport debuts on Rally Monte-Carlo later in January. Rally Sweden will follow in February before they return home to compete in the Longford-based event.
Although McErlean will be competing in a Ford Puma Rally1 car this year, he is no stranger to Rally2 machinery after several years in WRC2 and the European Rally Championship.
A second-place WRC2 finish in Rally Portugal was a highlight of the 25-year-old’s campaign last year.
McErlean competed twice at home last year, finishing fourth on the Cork 20 Rally and winning the Tour of the Sperrins.
Spectators will get the chance to witness McErlean’s visit to Longford first-hand with a ceremonial start taking place on Saturday evening (1st March).
