Top stages to challenge Circuit of Kerry Rally crews

Josh Moffett and Keith Moriarty top the entry list for Sunday’s Circuit of Kerry Stages Rally, round two of the National Rally Championship.

Moffett has already scored two podiums in 2025 and will be hoping to grab his first victory of the year as he defends his 2023 Circuit of Kerry win.

Another Citroen C3 Rally2 will chase Moffett through Kerry’s opening Camp Mountain test as Desi Henry and Shane Byrne look to build on a strong performance on the Midland Stages Rally.

Eddie Doherty, Declan Boyle, and Sam Moffett complete the top five filled with National Rally Championship contenders.

With Daniel Cronin, Michael Boyle, and Robert Barrable also heading to Tralee, we are set for an interesting battle for top honours. Barrable will be hoping for a better run after his rallying return was spoiled by a pop-off valve issue aboard his Skoda Fabia Rally2 in the Midlands.

Kevin Gallagher leads Kerry’s two-wheel-drive entry in his imperious Darrian T90. Johno Doogan pipped Barry Morris to modified honours on round one by a mere tenth of a second, and the two rapid pilots are set to go tooth-and-nail again this Sunday.

Chris Armstrong, Michael Carbin, and Patrick McHugh continue the strong field of modified monsters in the National Championship.

Find out what lies ahead for the crews this weekend as Onthepacenote’s Killian Duffy talks us through the stages.

Camp Mountain (8.62 km) – SS1/4/7

The Circuit of Kerry kicks off with a proper mountain stage. The opener consists of uphill and downhill sections with an extremely committed start and finish.

Drivers will need to be inch-perfect not only to set fast times but to stay out of trouble, just because of how fast and narrow Camp Mountain is.

There are some surface changes too, so the crews will need to be on the ball from the very start.

Minard Castle (15.18 km) – SS2/5/8

The longest stage of Sunday has plenty of different characteristics. Starting along the coast, it sweeps inland, offering another great test for the Circuit of Kerry crews.

There is definitely time to be made on Minard Castle, but it is a really tricky stage and could easily catch somebody out. Again, there are a lot of surface changes with typical mountain terrain, too.

Flemingstown (9.98 km) – SS3/6/9

Another challenging stage to complete the Circuit of Kerry’s set. Flemingstown may be relatively short, but it certainly doesn’t feel like it. The 10-kilometre test provides a demanding decider with narrow sections featuring again.

Crews will need to take care due to its unforgiving nature – it is going to be an epic finale for the second round of the National Rally Championship.
