30 R5s entered as Cork 20 starts Irish rallying in 2021

Cork 20 International Rally organisers have hinted at a tantalising entry list for Ireland’s first closed-road rally in 2021. Entries remain open as four World Rally Cars and 30 R5s already top the list of expectant crews.

The Munster Car Club event has already received a full complement of 160 cars. Although, Cork 20’s first press release shared on 3 September still encouraged competitors to enter.

“The event is shaping up to be a terrific occasion,” said Clerk of the Course, Kevin O’Riordan. “Not least to see stage rallying back again after such a long layoff but to see such a positive and encouraging response from competitors.”

As well as the jam-packed four-wheel-drive entry, there is set to be a stunning array of modified cars on show in Cork. The event, based outside Fermoy, has received 27 Class 14 crews along with 20 Class 13 cars.

While names have yet to be released, Irish rally fans can look forward to plenty of high-end quality to match Cork 20’s huge quantity.

The nine-stage rally features three different tests: Caherduggan, Glentane, and Ballylusky. Cork 20’s competitive stages run on Sunday 19 September with a shakedown stage running on Saturday evening.
